A few months ago I did this maternity shoot for my good friend Mary, who was at the time almost ready to pop with a lovely big round bump, which has now become her absolutely beautiful baby girl Ella. It was the first proper full maternity shoot I’ve ever done and was brilliant fun – I’ve resolved to try to do lots more pregnancy shoots as I enjoyed it so much.
We did the shoot in two halves – the first half a more relaxed, fun and colourful shoot out and about in Salford and the second half a more atmospheric, intimate shoot in her own home. I haven’t blogged here most of the images from the second half of the shoot due to Mary quite understandably not wanting her bare bod splashed over the internet but it was a really different, rewarding and enjoyable challenge to do this part of the shoot, working with soft candlelight, shadows, silhouettes and celebrating those beautiful pregnant lines and curves! She looked absolutely stunning and I think late pregnancy is such a magical, powerful and aesthetically beautiful time to capture in images. It really made me wish I’d done the same when I was pregnant with Joe!
Anyway, here are a few of my favourites…. Thank you Mary for such an enjoyable shoot, congratulations Mary and Ben on the arrival of beautiful Ella, and welcome Ella to our little gang!
