Are you a photographer or an aspiring photographer?
Are you just starting out and don’t know which areas to tackle first or where you should be concentrating your efforts?
Are you an established photographer looking for some fresh advice and inspiration to inject into your business?
Would you like to benefit from support and guidance tailored specifically to you?
If so, then one-to-one mentoring may be just the thing for you.
Running a photography business can be like spinning plates – you’re not just a photographer, you’re an administrator, retoucher, blogger, marketer, customer care manager, artist, product designer, technical geek, crowd controller and social media executive, amongst many other things! It’s an incredibly rewarding career, but it can be overwhelming at times to navigate the wide variety of tasks required to be successful, and to identify which areas need most attention at any given time, especially when working alone, as most photographers do.
This is where mentoring comes in – an opportunity to have an objective third party, who understands the industry, look at your business with you, help you to identify where you might best focus your attention, and provide tailored support specifically for you, your business and aspirations for the future.
Over the last ten years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed building a successful and highly respected photography business, first with weddings, then later with families. As an ex-teacher, I’m as passionate about education as I am about photography, and run regular family photography group workshops (The Roost) and one-to-one mentoring sessions for other photographers, helping them to develop and grow their own businesses, as well as guest speaking at major photography events and universities.
Having built my business from scratch, I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way and learned a lot of lessons… but I’m finally at a place where I’m confident in my own style, have developed a recognisable brand, operate an efficient workflow, have loyal and enthusiastic supporters and followers both within and outside the industry, attract and work with my ideal clients, and make a reasonable living doing what I love. I can’t offer you a definitive answer to every question and I can’t offer you a recipe for sure-fire success, but what I can offer you is honesty, support, experience, a friendly face, someone who wants to listen to your story, goals and passions and a willingness to share with you anything and everything that I have learned and found useful during my time as a photographer.
I offer a variety of different options, from shorter bite-size online mentoring sessions, to full days face-to-face and ongoing 12 month mentoring programmes. If you think one-to-one mentoring might be what you’re looking for, please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you!
